Kerala’s Liquid Trees – Breathing Life into Cities

Kerala has unveiled a groundbreaking innovation called Liquid Trees, developed by LO Carbon Solutions in collaboration with the Kerala University of Fisheries and Ocean Studies (KUFOS). These micro-algae-based bioreactors act as living air purifiers, mimicking the role of trees in urban environments.
Unlike traditional greenery, Liquid Trees are compact installations filled with micro-algae cultures that absorb carbon dioxide and release oxygen. They can be placed in busy city centers, office complexes, or even schools, making them a scalable solution for areas where planting large trees isn’t feasible.
🌍 Why It’s Sustainable
Carbon capture: Micro-algae absorb CO₂ more efficiently than many plants, reducing greenhouse gases.
Urban adaptability: Fits into dense cityscapes where space is limited.
Water recycling: Uses treated wastewater to sustain algae growth.
Renewable energy synergy: Can integrate with solar-powered systems for self-sustaining operation.
Kerala’s Liquid Trees represent a fusion of science and sustainability, offering a glimpse into how cities can breathe cleaner air while embracing eco-innovation.Source : Lo Carbon Solutions
